RGR Landscape worked with the architectural team to design the second and sixth floor terraces of a new ambulatory care facility for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Located on East 74th Street along the East River Drive in Manhattan, the terraces are designed to provide settings for social interaction and contemplation while taking advantage of extensive views up and down the East River. Plantings are placed at the level of the paving rather than in raised planters to provide the intimate feeling of walking through a garden. Nodes and sitting areas are nestled between planting beds with a variety of plants providing color and interest throughout the year. Stone paving transitions to wood decking to indicate places of rest.
