RGR Landscape developed a plan to enhance the campus-wide circulation system for Westchester Community College in Valhalla, NY. The primary goal of this landscape and site planning effort was to rationalize and clarify the campus system of access roads, service drives, and walkways. A secondary goal was to address several specific site issues: the need for additional parking, resolving pedestrian and vehicular conflicts, improving orientation, and correcting existing drainage and erosion problems. To unify the circulation and create a sense of identity, RGR proposed a “Campus Main Street” concept that would serve as the primary pedestrian route through the campus, around which the circulation system could then be organized and simplified.
