RGR Landscape designed the landscape restoration plan for a 1.6-acre waterfront property in Larchmont, NY. Much of the site perimeter is bordered by Long Island Sound as well as a common boundary with Frederick Law Olmsted’s Manor Park. Over the years, the landscape had been degraded by storm erosion along the extensive seawall and a general lack of proper care. The restoration effort included a new 1,200 square foot bluestone patio; fieldstone walls, steps, and walkways; and plantings of new trees, shrubs, and perennials to meet a variety of needs. In addition, RGR installed new native plantings of seashore shrubs and grasses along the existing seawall to stabilize the adjacent soils and prevent future erosion from storms and high tides.
