RGR Landscape developed the site design for the new PS/IS 667 elementary school for Pre-K through 8th grade students in the Cypress Hills neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. The site design scope included the building entry and play yard for the school. The play yard features half-court basketball, a running track, painted games, and open space for kickball, as well as a separate space with play equipment for early childhood students. The play yard also includes a separate multi-use recreation area adjoining the gymnasium and covered with safety surface, to be used for informal games and gymnastics. An important feature is a shaded sitting area with benches beneath a canopy of trees that are surrounded by permeable bound aggregate pavement.
