RGR Landscape provided site planning and landscape design services for this new senior living facility in Stamford, CT, which includes independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing. RGR worked with the PE team to develop the site layout and grading plans, including walkways, planted areas, site furnishings, and activity spaces such as a bocce court and pickleball court. The landscape plan also featured a series of specialty gardens, namely a sensory garden, butterfly garden, community gardens, and a memory care garden. A focal point of the landscape plan was a central courtyard with pavers on pedestals, lush plantings, seating areas, and a decorative water feature that was located on the roof of the below-grade parking garage. The design goals were to create a beautiful and accessible out door environment for the residents, develop a conceptual landscape approach that fits comfortably with the existing natural vegetation and topography, and maximize the sustainable design potential of the site. The landscape plan was carefully designed to preserve the site’s natural features, including steep slopes, rock outcrops, adjacent wetlands, and numerous existing trees.
