RGR Landscape was retained by Jacobi Medical Center to develop an overall landscape improvement plan for its 35-acre campus in the Bronx, NY. The project included a planning study for improved pedestrian circulation and transit accessibility as well as other site and landscape enhancements that were to be funded by a federal grant and were, therefore, required to conform with the National Environmental Policy Act. The overall $5.0M project included new sidewalks and pedestrian crosswalks; new site lighting; parking lot improvements, such as planted medians and walkways; drainage improvements; redesign of major building entry areas, in particular, the main entry courtyard on Pelham Parkway; and new plantings of shade trees, flowering trees, shrubs, and perennials throughout the campus.
