RGR Landscape developed a conceptual design and construction documents to create a new state park on a post-industrial site along the East River in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. RGR’s objectives for the project were to make the site safe and accessible to visitors while maintaining its historic industrial character, all within a very limited budget. RGR used the existing concrete walls and platforms, which were remnants of former industrial structures, as a starting point for a simple and functional restoration of the site. RGR’s cost efficient design for East River State Park synthesized new landscape elements with historic industrial features to create a distinct New York waterfront experience within the cost parameters.
