The RGR / Gensler design team were tasked by the client to create a garden space reminiscent of the adjacent High Line for this roof terrace at 30 Hudson Yards. RGR responded by designing a mosaic of exuberant plantings amid a weaving of linear pavers and wood decking. Elements such as dining tables beneath shade pergolas, standing cafe tables, and a bar serve multiple uses, from work collaboration to relaxation and evening receptions. All these furniture elements are immersed in the lush plantings to create a garden experience. As at the High Line, the life-cycle of plants, from emergence, to flowering, to seeding, and ultimately senescence becomes an integral part of the garden experience.
