RGR Landscape designed a new residence and landscape on a site that overlooks the Hudson River in Nyack, NY. The landscape plan was designed to provide a comfortable natural context for the house and a sense of privacy with native woodland plantings along the street frontage and the adjacent properties. The dense woodland landscape then gives way to an open meadow at the rear of the property on the steep slopes leading down to the river. Rainwater is diverted naturally utilizing the sloping topography to collect and convey runoff through a system of surface swales, infiltration trenches, and surface retention ponds. In addition to lush native plantings, the landscape plan features a curving, cherry-tree-lined entry drive.
