RGR Landscape worked with the USTA and the Rossetti architectural design team to develop and implement a Strategic Vision for the $600 million renovation and expansion of the 46.5-acre Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, NY. The overall goals for the project were to increase the capacity of the facility from 40,000 to 50,000 visitors per day for the US Open as well as to improve the overall visitor experience through enhanced pedestrian circulation, new sitting areas, expanded dining and retail facilities, and increased viewing opportunities during the event, which is the largest attended annual sporting event in the world. RGR lead the approvals process with the NYC Parks Department and Public Design Commission, prepared the landscape construction documents, and provided construction administration services through implementation. RGR is currently working with Rossetti on several new projects for the USTA including a new Player Performance Building and improvements to Arthur Ashe Stadium.
