Projects: Residential and Commercial Developments

Office Park
Long Island, New York

RGR Landscape (RGR) developed the landscape design to accompany a new addition to an existing office complex on Long Island. The plan includes decorative perimeter plantings for the new addition featuring native plants that will blend seamlessly with the surrounding wooded environment. The plan also includes screen plantings to minimize the visual impact of two large pieces of mechanical equipment that are being added to the site. The most interesting aspect of the landscape design is a new courtyard garden that is being created near the addition of the new structure. This new garden is designed as a woodland landscape featuring large boulders, a rocky stream channel, and a variety of native trees, shrubs, and wild flowers. A portion of the new courtyard is being developed on the roof of a below-grade space that will house sensitive electronic equipment.

The landscape design includes a 24 hectare central park that will be the primary open space for this new residential community. The central park was conceived as an “Ecology Park” and features a large central lake with adjacent ancillary ponds. The design also includes a series of linked residential courtyards, each of which was designed to serve as the primary community open space for a villa or terrace house neighborhood. The open space plan emphasizes the use of numerous sustainable site design initiatives such as vegetated swales and bio-filtration wetlands.
