New York Botanical Garden: Restoration Master Plan
Bronx, New York

RGR prepared the Restoration Design Plan for the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG), the initial step of an $185M, five-year capital campaign. The planning and design effort focused on developing a master plan that would guide the restoration of the 250-acre site, its historic structures, and its important botanical exhibits. New elements of the proposed plan include a visitors orientation center, restaurant, primary pedestrian circulation route, special events space, expanded parking facilities for 1,100 vehicles, relocated maintenance facilities, upgraded and expanded propagation range, children's activity garden and discovery center, and a sequence of environmental exhibits.

To assist the NYBG in its fundraising effort and to initiate a major new capital campaign, RGR developed schematic plans and illustrative sketches for several of the key projects identified in the master plan, including a tropical forest exhibit for the restored Enid A. Haupt Conservatory.
