Projects: Waterfront

Hudson River Park
New York, New York

RGR participated in a multi-disciplinary park-wide project management team for Hudson River Park. This new waterfront park extends approximately five miles along Manhattan's West Side, from Battery Park to 59th Street.

The project team worked with the Hudson River Park Trust (HRPT) to design the bulkhead and pier railing systems for all seven segments of the park. This unique railing system features a four-inch diameter Pau Lope handrail with glass bead finish stainless steel intermediate rails and posts. The railing system incorporates matching stainless steel "lighthouse" bollards at regular intervals. The team worked with the manufacturer to develop compatible railing and bollard finishes, as well as a blue LED light source for the bollard luminaire.

RGR also led a series of workshops with HRPT staff to develop and refine the overall park-wide program, including recreational facilities, event venues, educational and interpretive elements, operations and maintenance facilities, and commercial elements, as well as to maximize the park's revenue-generating potential.
